Jim Crow legal guidelines had been a set of state and native statutes that legalized racial segregation. Named after a Black minstrel present character, the legal guidelines—which existed for about 100 years, from the post-Civil Struggle period till 1968—had been meant to marginalize African People by denying them the best to vote, maintain jobs, get an schooling or different alternatives. Those that tried to defy Jim Crow legal guidelines typically confronted arrest, fines, jail sentences, violence and loss of life.
